  • Artist Story
  • Je Baak’s artistic practice centres on his practice of Zen Buddhism. The object or subject of attention
constantly shifts, and prompts the viewer to experience familiar scenes from altered perspectives. Transforming the serious into the comical, the familiar into the uncomfortable, and the spectacular into the empty, Baak forces viewers into an introspection, developing the beginning of an ‘inward eye’ whereby self-realisation and ultimately enlightenment can be attained in an unfamiliar way.
